From seed to plant

Seeds, plants and insects. All at the forefront our this next venture. Building, tending and harvesting a garden is never easy. Learning about gardening and the cultures that surround them are virtually non-existent in schools. Our goal is to make gardening accessible to students, of which primarily live in condo, or apartment complexes, with little to no education on the science that goes behind gardening, but also the human impact it has on the communities that endorse them. From the very beginning of human existence, we have used plant life as food, medicine and nourishment. At Seed and Plant we see garden education as a tool for creating sustainable schools and the communities that surround them.

While our primary goal is to facilitate gardening and food education, we hope to make gardening accessible to all students from all walks of life, from all intersectionalities and from any socio-economic backgrounds. We are offering month seed sharing, including a toolkit filled with interactive garden and ecology lessons based on founded science. Our goal is to engage students in how to grow food, talk about food systems and achieve a level of sustainability for future students. While starting a food gardens program is never easy, we have made it possible to start your very own garden from small to large. Students will learn about how the sun, water and soil interconnect with the plants that nourish them, the humans that engage with them and the planet they inhabit.

We at Seed and Plant have one goal - connect students to the food, to each other and the natural space that surround them. We aim to give access to a bank of seeds, food literacy, and curriculum-based lessons that are hands on and meaningful. While students come first, our goal is to help staff and the community members become active members themselves in the gardens they tend to. We at venture, are offering you tested lessons, online for teachers. Whether you are a teacher, a student or a future gardener these seeds and lessons will be sure to help you get started!
